Jet Factors Aviation Appraiser and President, Michael J. DuBois ASA not only is Accredited by the American Society of Appraisers as an Accredited Senior Appraiser but is Managing Chief Pilot of a Flight Department that has overseen the operation of aircraft like the Gulfstream 450 and the Challenger 300.
Jet Factors clients include a range from large financial institutions to local banks, law firms, corporations, insurance companies, training facilities and individual buyers and sellers.

Michael J. DuBois
President
Michael J. DuBois has been in the aviation industry for close to 40 years. He holds an FAA Airline Transport Pilot license as well as an FAA Aircraft Dispatcher license. Presently he is the Managing Chief Pilot for a part 91 Corporate Flight Department operating a Gulfstream 450 and is type rated in the Gulfstream V and Challenger 300. Michael is CFR 61.31 current in the Gulfstream 450 and 550.
Alongside with his flight responsibilities he is an Accredited Senior Appraiser with the American Society of Appraisers. Under his Aircraft Specific designation with the American Society of Appraisers, Michael J. DuBois specializes in developing current and projected market values for reciprocating engine and turbine-powered aircraft, including private, corporate and airline applications of airplanes as well as all aircraft support equipment.

ASA-accredited appraisers provide exceptional valuation expertise as they earn their designations only after completing a rigorous course structure and peer-evaluation process that requires years of study, experience, dedication and commitment. ASA accredited appraisers follow both the professional standards set forth by the Appraisal Foundation and ASA’s own Code of Ethics and Principles of Appraisal Practice to provide a credible, objective opinion of value.
A price guide is simply a price guide and for this reason a value derived from said price guide is not an appraisal. Based on this if you want a “ballpark” idea of what your aircraft is worth then a price guide valuation would be more than adequate.
Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) are a set of ethic and procedural guidelines that govern all appraisal disciplines. It was created for the purpose of promoting and preserving public trust in the appraisal profession and clearly spells out what an appraiser may, and may not do, in the appraisal process.
Most non-accredited aviation appraisers use a proprietary software program to arrive at a value. The software they use has no way to explain how or why that “value” was accurate or how it was derived. They enter the aircraft’s information parameters into the computer program, and it spits out a “value”.
Depending on the complexity of the aircraft we estimate the report will take between three and five business days. In the case of a Full Appraisal Report add approximately two days for travel, and one or two days for inspection of the aircraft Full Appraisal Reports require a physical inspection of the aircraft and logbooks.
The assignment is performed without any bias and there is nothing that can be done to influence in any way the outcome of the appraisal. We are prohibited to accept an assignment that requires predetermined opinions or conclusions.
